Baby #2 Gender and Christmas

David and I found out the baby's sex on 12/7, but we decided to keep it a secret from everyone until Christmas. We bought Caleb a shirt that said "I didn't do it, my little brother did it". It was his gift to open on Christmas in front of everyone. David and I are super excited to be having another boy. Here are some of the pics from the ultrasound.

BOY!

Christmas was great this year! Caleb got a tricycle and mainly mickey mouse items from mommy and daddy. He got a train set from my parents, and he got some play dough, a Hot wheels racetrack, and trucks at David's parents house. Here are some pics from opening gifts Christmas morning. He went through the presents like they were just "things". He would open one, look at it, and move onto the next. He never did get excited about anything, but he carries his Mickey Mouse clothes around, and he loves his train that my parent gave him.

A Sick Caleb Makes for No Fun!

So last week (Monday), Caleb started running a fever. He had been coughing earlier that weekend, had a runny nose and such, but I chalked it up to a cold. I took him to the doc and we found out he has strep. We got some antibiotics and told we should be good to go to school on Wed. Well Wed., we still weren't better...he was still running fever. We decided it must be something viral and it just needed to run its course.

Well Thursday night it got MUCH worse. While David and I were at his Holiday Party, Caleb started running a fever in the 104 range. I assumed it HAD to be the flu. Thats the only time he gets fever of 104. Caleb was at David's parents house....thankfully they were able to break the fever and we went to the doc again on Friday. Caleb tested positive for RSV!!!! GRRRR!

So off we go home with more prescriptions. When I go to pick it up, I found out that the solution for the nebulizer is not covered by insurance!!! The doc had prescribed 96 vials at $640!!!!!! I looked at the pharmacist and said "can you do a payroll deduct?" HAHA. I only got 24 vials at $100 (I had a "savings card" from the doc that saved $50...savings card my butt). The nebulizer machine wasnt covered either...that was $47. I was ok with that...we might need it again....I dont want to rent it either.

So last week we spent over $400 in doctor visits and medicine! This week Caleb is MUCH better, he is back to his normal stinker self. Im very happy that he will be healthy for Christmas too!!!

Keep checking back to find out if we are having a girl or a boy...its a Christmas surprise!!!!

Half-Way with Baby #2!

Its so true what they say. Baby #2 isnt getting much attention. Im half-way through the pregnancy and this is my 1st belly picture. David and I havent discussed names, looked at bedding or furniture. I know there is still plenty of time, but with Caleb thats all we talked about was him.

Ive been feeling fine. Just like with Caleb...no real complaints. Ive been feeling the baby move for a while now. David got to feel the baby this past weekend. I have to be lying flat on my back, and it your patient enough you can feel the baby. Ive been sleeping with a pillow for a while now as well. If not, my back really hurts in the morning.

Sorry about the picture...its from my camera phone. I can tell Im slightly bigger the 2nd time around, which I expected. Dont think Ive gained too much so far, but I'll find out the truth at my next appt.

Table

As most of you know my dad made Caleb's blanket chest. We asked him to make us a breakfast table. We expected it to look great, but this is AWESOME! Its beautiful, pictures do not do it justice! Thank you so much Daddy for making this for us! Thank you Aunt Betty and Uncle Lenn for providing the wood!

There is a drawer on each end of the table. Here is a close up on the leg.
Excuse the mess on the table....

Trick or Treating

We had a BLAST this year trick-or-treating! Caleb was a pirate! ARG! He didnt mind wearing the outfit I got for him and he would occasionally play with his sword. We had a small block party at our house and everyone had a GREAT time! It was so nice to just hang out with our neighbors and let our kids run around. Our neighbors kids are awesome too! Even the older ones look after Caleb as if he were their own. So sweet. We all agreed our next mini block party will have to be on a weekend so none of us have to get up early to go to work or school!

Caleb's school also had a Halloween party earlier that day. I think he ate a bit too much candy, because the REALLY BAD diapers started coming, and now he has a rash :( He was having so much fun last night he neglected to tell us he was sitting in a "mess". His tooshi was so raw! This morning its MUCH better! Gotta love triple paste!!! Hes also got this bad dry cough. It started Sunday and I tried to catch it early, gave yogurt, vitamins, Sambucoil (immunity booster), inhaler (cough started sounding barky), and honey cough syrup. Last night I gave him some cough medicine to help him sleep and put the vaporizer on in his room. He still coughed the whole night. We are sending him to school today with crossed fingers that they dont call us to pick him up. Mommy and Daddy are very busy at work today!

Anyway...I got off the trick-or-treating post. You all know how Caleb will pose for photos! So here are some of the shots we got last night from trick-or-treating. It took him a bit to get the hang of it, but once he saw the other kids getting candy, he didnt have too many issues going to the door.

12 week & Caleb update

I forgot to post this with my ultrasound pics...blame it either on the preggo brain or mommy brain I have!

So far this pregnancy hasn't been much different than with Caleb. No morning sickness. I will occasionally get "evening sickness", but it isn't a nauseous feeling....more of I only feel like eating a bowl of cereal for dinner. Very manageable. I've been a bit more tired than usual, but I just try to go to bed earlier.

One thing different this time around is the occasional incision pain (from the C-section). I really have to watch how often I pick up Caleb.....he's 30 pounds! Its causing stress on the internal scar. We are working on getting him in and out of the car seat without me picking him up. We will be converting his bed to a toddler bed very soon, hopefully that goes well.

Ive already started showing. I cant wear any of my normal clothes without a bella band. I'm much more comfy in my "in between pregnancy pants". These are the pants that don't have that full belly elastic, but they have a stretch waistband.

Caleb is doing great. Potty training is off and on. When he tells me, we try to use the potty. Not really pushing it just yet. He now goes to sleep with the following items: a pillow, a blanket, puppy, small bear, big bear, puppy pillow (pillow pet from my mom), and sometimes a book. Im surprised he can find his pacifier in the middle of the night!
Hes talking so much...he is a sponge with everything. While David and I were eating dinner he told us in his words: "Bye, go to grocy stor. Bye, gettin d mail. Need keys mama, unlock door (as hes putting daddy's shoes on)."Our favorite conversation is about what daddy does at work:
Caleb: bye, goin work (putting David's tennis shoes on)
Us: Caleb, what do you do for work?
Caleb: Like daddy
Us: Yes, what do you do for work?
Caleb: cut gass

His imagination is really taking off. We went to Fry's (electronic store) this past weekend. David and i were looking at phone holsters. Caleb finds one and walks around the store with it on his hip, saying "goin work like daddy".

Coming Soon....

In April 2012.
This is the 8 week ultrasound. Most of you found out on facebook, but for those who dont have one.....Im pregnant!

Zoo, Train, Eye Shirt

So David and I originally were going to go to Corpus Christi this past weekend, but because of the drought we are having here in Texas we decided to do a staycation. Friday we took off to take Caleb to the zoo. Caleb had a BLAST, even though we was fighting a cough, runny nose, and slight fever. The zoo made his day!

Caleb did NOT want to get off the Wildlife Carousel. I know hes not smiling in this picture, but he was smiling from ear to ear while the ride was going.

Monday we went to the Katy Mills Mall. While there caleb saw the train that goes around the inside of the mall. He saw the kids getting off and on and would not let us leave without riding the "co co rain". His smile and happiness more than made up for the cost to ride.

Caleb is obsessed with the "eye shirt". Its just a whale shirt with a plastic eye on it. David's mom got this shirt for him a month or so ago. Everyday he requests the "eye shirt". Yesterday the daycare got the wrath of Caleb when they changed his shirt (it was soaking wet from his drool). He was NOT happy and would not stop crying. Luckily I came in shortly after "the incident". He begged to put it back on....so I just put it over his current shirt. Guess Im gonna have to go buy one in every size!

His new thing now is to carry around the white polar bear you see in the pic above. The bear, puppy, blanket, pillow, and sometimes a ball all must be in the bed to fall asleep.

OUCH!!!

Caleb fell at school yesterday. I still dont understand how he managed to hit the area between his lip and nose. I think his pride was hurt more than anything. He wont let ANYONE touch him with medicine. This morning it looks a little better. His forehead and chin are back to normal, but his nose and upper lip are RED. Im sure there will be more injuries in his future....right David??? Remember when you somehow managed to go through the window of your house and wound up with a busted knee??? hehehe

This is Caleb the next afternoon....so 24 hours after falling.
