Playing the Drums
About a month ago David and I were watching Maroon 5 on DirectTV. The video is a bit long (4 min), but you can see Caleb playing the drums. Fast forward to about the 2 1/2 minute mark and you can really see him get into it.
Before you ask, NO he does not need a drum set!
Caleb can Read!!!
Well, in his own way. It just sounds like babble, but you get the idea.
You might need to turn up your volume to hearing "the reading".

Pacifier Update
As some of you may know, we've been TRYING to get rid of the pacifier addiction, a.k.a. baby crack. UGH! David and I have started to HATE the pacifier...Caleb doesnt talk with that thing in his mouth. The teachers at daycare tell me he doesnt even ask for it there!!!! So I realize its just an association with us! He was sick a while back, and I feel bad so I gave in and gave it to him.
Well last Monday, David and I decided enough is enough. The only time Caleb will get the paci is at nap time and bedtime. Today is day 8 and we are doing great!!! The 1st few days he cried the whole way home from daycare. I was able to distract him with different things when I got home, but the ride home was rough. The weekend was a little more challenging, but we made it though...as long as we could distract him from thinking about it, he was ok.
Now...my new problem. Getting him to eat something other than crackers!!!!!!!!!!!! Crackers are ALL he asks for. Caleb is not a big meat eater, and thats ok....I know kids go though this phase. Lately he hasnt wanted noodles (which he loves), grilled cheese (also another fav), or even bananas. So Ive been finding healthier carb options, besides crackers (especially for daycare). He likes banana bread and these apple cinnamon muffins I make. He also likes biscuits or crescent rolls. More fruit is coming in season, so Ive been able to offer him other fruit besides bananas too.
One battle at a time. Once I know we've got the pacifier addiction down, I work harder on the food.

18 months already!
Where did the time go?????
Our Monster is 18 months old and SHOWES it! Here are some of the things he can do:
He can say - bu-bye (with wave), more, mama, dada, puppy, wawa (water), all done (a duh), cracker, baby, bubble, car, uh-oh, Papi (sounds like like puppy though), Donald (dona), and bath (ba).
We LOVES to do things by himself, such as:
-Hes working on pulling up his own pants
-He can wash his hands, and clean his hands after he eats
-He likes to throw his diaper (or anything else) in the trash
-He likes to close all the doors...he wants to push them closed
-When we are ready to change his diaper, we tell him and he goes right to his room on his blanket
-He loves to dance (I will post a video soon)
-Hes really good at sharing his food with us
-He can blow kisses
-He loves reading his books. He points to everything in the book and tries to repeat what we say.
-He knows where his belly, hands, feet, nose, eyes, mouth, and ears are.
We are working on giving hugs and kisses. Still working on removing the pacifier.
He also LOVES to throw temper tantrums when things do not go his way. Looks like we are on our way to the "terrible 2's"

Oreo's
Let me say this first. Yes....Im one of THOSE mom's!
Caleb hasnt had chocolate milk, oreo's, or chocolate chip cookies yet. I havent felt the need to introduce them. He LOVES regular milk, so why mess with that? David and I dont buy cookies, so we never offered them to him.
Well about 2 weeks ago I gave him oreo's for the 1st time. I knew he would LOVE it of course. He even knew to split the oreo...lol
Here are some pics from "the mess".

Merry Christmas!
Grandpa's Helper
So after 3 years, our front door has taken a beating. Mainly from the afternoon sun that hits it. When my parents came for Christmas I had my dad help us stain the door. Took us 2 days to do it, mainly because its a bit colder now, but it looks AWESOME! My dad did a great job! I helped sand it, but thats about as involved as I got.
Well it took the guys a bit to put the door back up. You know Caleb wants to be with the guys now and do what they are doing. He's BIG into imitation right now. Here is Caleb learning...

Another short story to tell you. David and I are working to remove the pacifier from Caleb...its getting hard. We know when he wants it too. When my parents where here, my dad could actually reason with him and convince Caleb to give him the pacifier!!!!! David and I stared in amazement....that DOES NOT work for us. All my dad had to do was ask for it, and Caleb would hand it over. SPEECHLESS! Of course now that they have left, its gone back to NOT working!!!
